Dr. Alfredo Saavedra Castillo

Highly distinguished psychiatrist with over 30 years of experience, recognized as one of Peru’s leading experts in the field. He specializes in treating complex cases such as Substance Use Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Affective Disorders, utilizing cutting-edge psychiatric methods and the latest advances in the field. Dr. Saavedra holds a Master’s and Doctorate in Medicine from the prestigious Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia. He is a founding and titular member of the Peruvian Association of Addictionology (APAD), where he currently serves as Vice-President, and holds the same leadership position in the Peruvian Association of Professionals for the Study of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (APPTDAH).
As the Executive Director of the Addictions Department (DEIDAE) at the National Institute of Mental Health Honorio Delgado Hideyo Noguchi (INSM HD-HN), Dr. Saavedra leads initiatives in addiction treatment and mental health. He also serves as an Assistant Physician at the Psychiatry Service of the San Pablo Clinic. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Saavedra is a respected academic, teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia and the Master’s Program in Addictive Behaviors at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). His international training further complements his extensive experience, solidifying his reputation as a leader in modern psychiatry and the treatment of complex mental health disorders.
